This story took me by surprise, even though it shouldn't:
of course, if Methos had been in the Watchers for ten years, he would
have been there when Darius was killed, and he would have heard about it
through the Watcher grapevine. This posits a Methos who was close
friends with Darius -- with some very angsty flashbacks of Methos and
Darius around WWI -- and a Methos just as desirous of vengeance for
Darius's death as Duncan was; yet managing to keep in character and in
canon by preventing Duncan and Methos from meeting. Good stuff.

This one follows on from "The Night Watch" as Methos tries
to track down more of the Hunters and gets tangled up with unexpected
obligations as some of his past catches up with him.
More Methos angst, more lovely Darius flashbacks, nasty Horton, and a
touch of spookiness. Cool.
