Summary: Post Runaway Bride/pre-Smith & Jones/pre-Sarah Jane Adventures story. The Tenth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith meet again a few months after School Reunion. Special guest appearance of another old friend from Classic days.

I don't think it's spoilery to say that the other old friend is Harry Sullivan.

This is a lovely friendshippy story. I love how it's so clear that all three of them care for each other a great deal, not in a soppy way, but in doing what they can to help. The Doctor is wounded in more than one way, and Sarah and Harry care for him in more than one way. But it isn't just hurt/comfort; the Doctor is very much himself, reckless and manic and grinning, silent and enduring and unstoppable. Sarah-Jane is practical and eyerolling and hugging and resourceful, as ever.

It isn't all hurt and recouperation either; there is some adventure too.

I really liked this.

Summary:The Tenth Doctor takes his old friends, Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan, to visit another old friend of his, and an adventure ensues! As the sequel to Silver and Gold, we are still in the time period between Runaway Bride and Smith and Jones and before SJA.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous one; my suspension of disbelief got rather strained. Not that all of the unlikely things were impossible, it's just that there were so many of them. Perhaps I could believe that the Doctor was an old and dear friend of Harpo Marx... but that Sarah Jane was a huge Marx brothers fan, and that Harry Sullivan was a Jack London fan, oh so very convenient for the plot; these and other things were a bit much to take on board.

Apart from that, though, I still enjoyed the characters here, especially Sarah Jane.
