Summary: The war is over. Hermione Granger's life, while safer, is no less complicated. Victory has had unintended consequences which affect not only Hermione, but all those around her.

This AU is canon-compliant up to Half-Blood Prince; it doesn't deal with Voldemort's defeat, but with what happens afterwards.

This story pulled me in; I stayed up far too late reading it. It took an improbable cliche, and then ran with it as a "what-if"; in other words, it took care to show how the characters would really react in that situation. It was long enough to make the character development convincing, and it was the kind of romance that I love: the kind that starts with respect and friendship.
