"Here There Be Dragons" STORY: The world's greatest thief steals the jade carving of Shendu from Section 13 -- without realizing just what she's got hold of.

STATUS: I started this long enough ago that Carmen Sandiego's show was still on the air, and bogged down two and a half chapters in -- around 4600 words of what I'd guesstimate at a 25K-word plot. SNIPPET: Uncle's two-fingered rap landed on Tohru's elbow, that being as high as the old man could easily reach. "Perhaps pigs will fly!"

There was a pregnant pause while the rest of the group pointedly didn't remind him that where talisman magic was involved, pigs occasionally did fly. "All right, bad example!"

"Things Half in Shadow..." STORY: During the period when Spike is more or less babysitting Dawn, she asks him to read "Mary Poppins" to her; he refuses, and thereby hangs a tale. It seems there was a family connection between Quentin Travers of the Watchers' Council and P. L. Travers, author of the Poppins books -- and that Spike once crossed paths with one Marie Poppins, who was (a) a good deal more dangerous than her literary self, and (b) as much a thorn in the Council's side as she was in Spike's.

STATUS: Exists only in concept/bunny form, though I have somewhat more plot developed than this summary implies. Finished length is uncertain -- probably no less than 8,000 words, possibly 20,000 words or more. Tone is likely to be dark but not too dark (I prefer snarky Spike to angsty Spike); there is likely to be sexual tension but not graphic sex. SNIPPET: not available

"Unsealed With A Kiss" http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3862245/1/Unsealed_With_a_Kiss STORY: An AU; two weeks after the Diablo affair, Yori arrives in Middleton with her eyes on Ron. Meanwhile, Senor Senior Sr. is after Kim...and the world's supply of chocolate.

STATUS: Two chapters are up (about 4500 words); I have (somewhere) an outline and notes contemplating 10-12 chapters. The story was originally projected as first in a series of four (I have titles and brief synopses of the remaining three recorded) exploring the Kim/Ron/Yori triangle. Romantic tension for sure, a bit of angst maybe, but nothing too hot and heavy in this particular story. SNIPPET: "But if there's no mission," Ron said, his eyes starting to glaze over, "and school's out, then, um, how come you're in my treehouse? Not," he added quickly, "that I'm not happy to see you. And of course, my treehouse is your treehouse. Except it's here, and you live in Japan - you do still live in Japan, right? They haven't kicked you out of Yamanuchi or anything? Because if they have-" He paused, mostly for breath, but also to demonstrate his serious face.

"Fire and Sleet and Candlelight" STORY: The product of one dysfunctional upbringing falls hard for a girl who's had two dysfunctional childhoods in a row. Will the result be happiness -- or catastrophic tragedy?

STATUS: This exists so far purely in brief synopsis form; if it's not evident from the above, it's intended as a Warren/Gwen piece, and rather a dark and edgy one at that (although I do expect to retain at least a touch of the comic tone from the movie). I don't have a firm idea of overall length, but I strongly suspect it will run as long or longer than anything else in my list; completing 10,000 words in the -thon timeframe is likely to amount to 1/3 to 1/2 of the way in, but that's a guess.

Title: Conversations With Dead People Summary: A Return of the Jedi AU story.

Notes: This story begins with Jedi Master Anakin Skywalker returning from a mission in time for his Padawan's (and son's) Knighting ceremony. All events in this story take place within 24 hours, although there are several flashbacks to twenty years ago - the time of the Clone Wars. During the day, several familiar characters have conversations with people who are dead - both literally and figuratively. Progress So Far: First started in 2005. I've 'published' 1 chapter out of an estimated 13 chapters. I have a very detailed back-story and outline.

Title: Mortal Instruments Summary: Snippets from the life of Padme Naberrie, ward of Palpatine.

Notes: In this Prequel AU, Padme Naberrie's family was murdered while she was still a baby and she was adopted by Palpatine/Darth Sidious. She grows up in his shadow as he moulds her in his image, all the while working towards his ultimate endgame. Also starring: Anakin Skywalker who is Yoda's Padawan Learner; Obi-Wan Kenobi, a young Knight with a secret; Queen "Sabe" Canilla of Naboo, who will have her revenge; Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, who is not dead; and Jedi Master Dooku, who is awesome. Progress So Far: Started in 2007. I've 'published' 5 chapters out of an estimated 25 chapters. Though I have a good idea of the next couple of chapters, I'm still not certain how to go from there to where the story ultimately ends.

Title: Thwarted Fate Summary: A Clone Wars AU. At the end of the Battle of Geonosis, Senator Amidala chooses duty over love and the forbidden marriage never takes place. How strange that a decision so personal could alter the fate of the galaxy forever....

Progress So Far: This story was started in 2004 and since then has suffered several hiatuses, including the last one that lasted two years. It was planned as a six-volume epic written by 3 co-writers. So far, one and a half volumes have been completed and one writer has left. If this story is voted for/selected, the goal would be to finish the second volume.

The boys are looking for a cursed ring that drives people mad, the only one who knows where it is happens to be the latest victim, making getting the location of it a little more interesting than they planned. Sam, Dean, OFC, brief or vague mention of others. In progress, currently 7k+ words.

King Merlin and King Random talk after the funeral of Random's wife, Vialle. Future fic ignoring the short stories. This has been sitting at 2000 words on my hard drive for a couple of years. I'm committing to completion.

"Auguries of Innocence." AU diverging during Half-Blood Prince. The war is finally over, after years and many, many deaths. Both heroes and villains have changed to become people they never expected to be. Rather dark trio. Violence, torture, non-explicit rape. Some het, some slash. Somewhat surreal. Not quite sane Draco and Luna points of view.

AU diverging during the Kyoto arc. I want to explore what happens, on a grand scale, if Shishio wins the showdown with Kenshin. "Apotheosis." AU/divergent timeline in which Crawford is a mage with the rest of Schwarz bound to him magically. He gets his hooks into Yohji magically in order to have a spy on the rest of Weiss. Slavery. Magic. Possibly gods and/or demigods, eventually.

Crawford rescues Ken from a nasty trap. Seduction probably ensues. (Someone complained to me that there's not a lot of happy fic with these two paired. This is my effort to see if I could do it.) I've got about 5000 words of this on my hard drive but haven't touched it in months. I'm committing to completion, assuming the thing doesn't decide to sprout an epic. If it does grow, I'm committing to 10000 additional words.

"Bell & Candle": A middling noble of House Telvanni, his wife, their young son, and their tiny retinue of servants are dispatched to the Daedric ruin of Zergonipal on a research expedition. Things then proceed to go awry in the face of constant ash storms, the increasingly unhinged behavior of one of the servants, and the eventual arrival of a pack of Ashlanders and some fellow calling himself "the Nerevarine." Told from the POV of Ismene, one of the servants (but not the unhinged one). Notes: semi-minimal progress already on this one; I have some snippets written out, at least. Will probably be written more as a series of short vignettes rather than a continuous narrative.

"Cassini's Rainbow": Actually, a rewrite of a pre-existing fic (original: http://tyraarane.livejournal.com/279239.html), to make it less sucky and fix the horribly bungled ending. And to make it more of a Sasha/Milla fic, per the original request behind the fic. In short: Sasha and Milla go to Portland, Oregon, to find a former Psychonauts agent (and one of Sasha's mentors in his early days at the agency) living under an assumed identity, only to discover that he's...not entirely sane. He's also a precognitive with some worrying predictions for Sasha's future. And for some reason, Orwell's "1984" gets referenced a lot. Notes: Somewhere in the realm of 40% rewritten (I started over basically from scratch), but stalled for reasons unknown.

"Dig, Ophelia": A companion piece, sort of, to my Esher-centric "No Going Home" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3193056/1/No_Going_Home). This fic will attempt to do to Yeesha what "No Going Home" did for Esher--flesh out her character as it appears in Myst V to make her more sympathetic, and in the process do some clean up on the trainwreck that was Myst V's story. Mildly AU by necessity; as with "Home," I do bend and stretch canon, but try to avoid actively breaking it. Plot is still in flux, but at the moment chronicles Yeesha's perspective on events mostly prior to and following Myst V, with a focus on her relationships with Esher and Calam, her murdered teacher/father figure/possible lover. Notes: some semi-coherent snippets written, but mostly in plot bunny stage. Yeesha is an excruciatingly hard character to write for.

"One Flew East": One of the most dangerous psychic terrorists in recent memory decides to stage a prison break and some revenge kidnappings, among other things. Added difficulty: he was once one of Sasha Nein's best friends, years ago. And one of the acts he's most famous for involves the murder of Sasha's first partner. (No, not Milla.) The fic moves back and forth between the present and the 1990s, during Sasha's years at the Psychonauts' academy and some of his early years as a field agent, to better explore his relationship with our antagonist, Nick Harper, and some of the people surrounding them. Adult rating is for language, some violence, and a few scenes of sexual content. Notes: Epic story is, well, epic. It started as a badly written first draft that was never finished (here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3016273/1/One_Flew_East), which I began to rewrite as my NaNoWriMo '08 project. I hit the 50K goal post with the fic still unfinished, and stalled. Now it's trying to rewrite itself again. I have my doubts I'd be able to have a completed draft I'd be comfortable with posting for public consumption within 8 weeks, but it's worth a shot...

I think this could be a potentially awesome crossover. Montparnasse, George Cooper, a dark alley, comparing knives, possibly an ear collection. This promises to be quite dark and also slashy. I've got a beginning I'm not satisfied with; if I write this, I'll probably be starting over from scratch.

Montoni/Cavigni. I really want to write the whole scope of the epic relationship between these two. From the beginnings, wherein Cavigni is a determined young man and Montoni finally relents, through the middles, wherein at first they are happy but Cavigni can't battle Montoni's demons for him, to the endings, wherein the two of them can't hold it together and there is Tragedy. I have bits and pieces written out for this one, and I want to fit them together into a larger framework. Also, if I finish it, this would be the very first Mysteries of Udolpho fanfic on the web, as far as I can tell, and that would be very cool.
