Crochet: How to Crochet spiral coaster / potholder with spiral surface stitching, beginners pattern

These little stars are so easy to make and work up very quickly. Have used Caron Simply Soft with a 4mm hook to give the stars more structure. The stars may benefit from blocking but so far they are holding their shape well and not curling.

Basic geometric shapes in crochet: square, hexagon, circle, triangle and pentagon. Done as crochet charts rather than written directions.

Tatted owl earrings. Done with needle-tatting. Very cute.

This Granny Rectangle begins with a strip of "granny stitch" to make the centre of the rectangle, rather than doing something awkward with crocheting in the back loops of a starting chain, as I've seen elsewhere.
