Adding Small Beads to CrochetHow to string beads with smaller openings onto yarn. This is a different method from the pre-stringing or steel-crochet-hook methods. It is like the crochet-hook method, but instead of using a crochet hook, one uses a needle and thread to pull the bead onto the yarn. This works for beads that are too small to string onto the yarn and too small to fit on a tiny crochet hook, or with yarn that is too thick for the crochet hook to grab cleanly.2017-09-29 16:11:00

Beaded Shell Fringe Scarf Tutorial - Donna LiljegrenTutorial for making beaded shell scallops at the start of a knitted scarf. The original pattern is from Deanna's Vintage Styles (Shell Fringe Scarf). However, one doesn't need to follow that pattern in order to use the general technique. It's a lovely way of decorating the bottom of a knitted piece. This video also demonstrates how to transfer beads from a hank of beads over to one's yarn. This can be useful for any textile craft where one is adding beads to the piece (e.g. crochet, kumihimo)2017-09-17 17:37:00

How to make a kumihimo necklace using larger beadsA video tutorial demonstrating how to make a larger bead kumihimo necklace. The idea is to make the central section with the large focal beads using tigertail, making the crimped loop at the end large enough for four strands of (satin) cord to go through. Then you fold those in half, giving you eight strands to make a standard eight-strand round braid. Then do the same on the other side, and finish as one would any kumihimo braid. Thus you have a central section with the beads, framed by kumihimo braids on each side. Pretty nifty.2017-04-24 23:15:00

Inside beaded kumihimo braidThis tutorial shows how to make an inside beaded kumihimo braid. This is different from the standard beaded kumihimo braid, because the beads are framed by the cord ("inside" the braid) rather than hiding the cord ("outside" the braid).2017-02-09 04:10:00

Kumihimo Braid Over Cords And Big BeadsThe secret of this technique is glue. First, glue the bead to the cord so that it doesn't move, and secondly, when covering the second half of the bead, put glue on it first, so that the cords will stay flush on the bead instead of slipping.2016-02-27 18:38:00

Bead CrochetThis method of bead crochet does not require pre-stringing the beads onto the yarn. Instead, it uses an extra small crochet hook to thread the bead onto the current loop; a similar method is used for beaded knitting. The disadvantage of this method is that you have to start and stop; stop and thread the bead on the small hook and then exchange hooks, put on the bead, and then exchange hooks again. That's the trade-off for the advantage of not having to pre-string the beads.2014-12-05 17:40:00
