Russian Macrame Owl TutorialMacrame owl tutorial, in Russian, but since it is 95% visuals, the language doesn't matter. This design has the interesting features of: (a) tufty owl ears, (b) the wings are joined to the body with half-hitches over multiple cords, (c) the binding for the tail is done with whipping rather than square knots or half-hitches. This makes it a bit more uniform.2018-09-10 15:32:00

Lantern pendant with large spherical stones without holes 397Lantern pendant with large spherical stones without holes - jewelry making from copper wire. Really nifty way of ensuring that the petals are even. This pattern is suitable for stones with a diameter bigger than 1cm; the bigger the stone, the bigger the lantern. Without the Viking-knit bottom, this pattern can be used to make bead caps. Likewise, one could use a large bead cap for the first part of the pattern, and enclose with Viking knit.
Wire size to make pendant with diameter of stones 14 - 16mm 22 gauge ( wire diameter 0.6mm ) : 25cm( 10 inch) 28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 50cm( 20 inch)2018-07-18 22:33:00 -
Intertwined Bangle - Wire Wrap TutorialLong-ish tutorial for this intertwined wire-wrap bangle/bracelet, showing a few variations. A style with a lot of possibilities; wire-wrap, beads in the centre, beads on the outside, different thicknesses of wire. It may also be possible to use stiff cord (such as leather thonging) instead of wire for this.2018-07-08 11:05:00

How to knit a bracelet with wire (with captions)Learn to knit a bracelet using knitting wire and beads. It's a simple and quick project that can be made even by beginner knitters. The pattern for this bracelet is available as a PDF download at http://www.knitca.com/video/knit-with-wire-bracelet (This 'knitting wire' appears to be some kind of tigertail, since it is plastic-coated steel, but unlike most tigertail, one can actually tie knots in it, so normal tigertail won't do for this.)2017-12-24 02:31:00

How to add beads to a flat kumihimo braidThis tutorial shows how to add beads to a flat kumihimo braid, on the sides of it. While this is demonstrated on a square kumihimo disk with the beads being added as you go, it could also be done on a marudai with pre-strung beads. The beads would have to be strung on every cord, and brought down when that cord is moved to the side position.2017-09-27 19:39:00

Beaded channel set flat kumihimo braidThis tutorial shows how to make channel set beaded flat kumihimo braid; that is, beads go down the centre like they're in a channel. This design isn't suited for a marudai, since the beads have to be strung on while the braid is being made. They can't be pre-strung, which means that the cord has to be not spooled, which means one can't use weighted spools, which means you can't do this on a marudai. But it's a nifty design; the beads are snug inside the braid.2017-09-27 19:16:00

DIY Episode 1:25 - Knot Soft Flex Beading Wire To Create A Beaded Bracelet With A Button ClaspThis tutorial shows how to loosely knot a seed bead bracelet with a button clasp, using tigertail and seed beads (this uses Soft Flex .019 Beading Wire). This is basically doing macrame alternating half-hitches with the tigertail (which is filled up with seed-beads) and because the tigertail is stiff-but-springy, you can make the knots very loose (hardly "knots" at all) and you get a lovely Celtic-looking set of loops around each other. You could probably do something similar with round leather cord (though without the beads, or with very large-hole beads).2017-07-26 13:20:00

Exposed Silver Color Stringing Wire Necklace TutorialInteresting bead-stringing technique using TWO strands of "stringing wire" (AKA tigertail). This requires pretty-coloured tigertail because the tigertail is going to be visible rather than covered entirely with beads. This is done by alternating between stringing the beads on single wires (one or both) and stringing the beads on two wires together, with enough space between the beads that the tigertail is exposed. Because the beads alternate in this way, the beads strung on both wires together hold the other beads in position, as the stiff-but-flexible tigertail opens with the separate wires, and closes when the wires are strung together.2017-07-10 21:55:00

How To Make a Beaded Zip Tie Necklace DIYThe author describes the necklace as "amazingly colorful, stylish couture necklace" but I don't think so. Plastic beads are plastic beads. However, I do like the idea of making links with zip-ties strung with (glass) beads. It has interesting chain-maille-ish potential, if one could do a maille weave that was more than the usual 2-in-1 chain.2017-04-25 02:20:00

How to Make a Glass Vial NecklaceThis method of turning a cork-stoppered vial into a pendant makes the attachment by putting a hole through the cork rather than tying something around the neck of the vial/jar. As long as the cork is not loose, this is a much neater method.2016-10-06 15:35:00
