Pattern by Louise Patterson. The Diagonal Braid is a textured stitch that produces a reversible fabric. This pattern is for a dishcloth, but it could be extended to make a scarf or blanket.

This looks like a sort of staggered rib stitch.

The scrubber pattern is easy but has an interesting construction that turns the knitted rectangular strips into its final circular shape. For a scrubber, the best yarns to use would be either cotton for absorbency, or nylon for abrasion.,

Pattern by Marcia McCormack. This uses polyester \scrubbie\ yarn, which is a shaggy yarn intended for making... scrubbies. This pattern uses seed stitch to make a square, and then you fold the square into quarters and stitch the sides together. This gives it the bulk needed to make a good scrubber.
