String art has been a popular craft for over a hundred years, especially in the late 1960's and 70's when it was combined with psychedelic colours to create some very dazzling geometric patterns.

I could not find any examples of string art ever being crafted into resin, so here is my experiment using DMC Light Effects E980 thread to make a very striking pendant, which is bright yellow in daylight and glows like crazy under blacklight. The idea was to remove the pins after the resin had cured to leave the string magically suspended with no visible means of support.

Interesting technique using an open-backed bezel and silicone putty to capture the shape of a found organic object like shells or flowers. What makes this interesting is that the bezel is part of the (created out of silicone putty) mould, so the resin sets inside the bezel itself, so you don't have to try to fit the item inside the bezel. Then when the resin is set, you can fill in the other side, so that it is smooth on both sides. Another interesting aspect is that one could make something semi-translucent instead of completely opaque, possibly dusting the surface with mica powder, and you could get interesting effects when the light shines through it.

Making a resin pendant with two sizes of copper tubing; one for the outside, and one to make a big hole (like a GoGo pendant) inside. Fill with resin, sand, polish.

Make twisted curl rainbows using color film, resin and packing tape. The idea is to make your surface with the colour film, dome it with resin, let it cure until it is dry but still bendable (half the time it takes to cure hard) and then wrap the piece around a cylinder (like a pencil) and tape it down to hold it in place until it is fully cured. This uses colour film from little-windows.com, but I expect normal cellophane would work just as well. One could also use pretty (translucent) paper.

Lisa Pavelka demonstrates using Magic-Glos with open-backed settings. Here she creates a layered collage using a setting, Magic-Glos resin and a variety of components. Includes useful tips that I haven't seen elsewhere.

Create a galaxy effect pendant tutorial. This one makes the galaxy background with white acrylic paint and (sparkly) black/blue/purple/clear nailpolish painted into a bezel. The 3D effect is done by layering glitter and stars and microbeads on top, and doming it all with (UV?) resin and adding a few more glitter-stars into that.

Tutorial for glittery galactic clouds in your resin piece. Holographic glitter + dark shades of glitter + black glitter. This could probably be done with mica powder too.

This tutorial shows how to use UV resin to preserve tiny bits of plants as clear cabochons. Interestingly, these are not dried or pressed, but freshly picked.

In this tutorial you will learn how to turn an eye pin into a simple bail and embed it into a resin mold. This is an easy way of turning molded resin objects into jewelry.

Make the wire into a frame, hammer it flat, stick to masking tape, use doming resin, sprinkle with beads or glitter to decorate before curing. Cool.

Use a paper punch to punch out shapes in pretty papers, punch a (guide) hole for jump-rings to go through, coat both sides with resin and let cure while leaving it resting on wax paper. It's interesting that this tutorial doesn't instruct one to seal the paper first, while others I've seen, do.

Resin pendant tutorial. The nifty idea in this tutorial is, after one has cast the main piece, to decorate the front of it by mixing up two-part epoxy GLUE, adding in a lot of glitter, and smooth it onto your piece with a toothpick. Because epoxy glue is thicker and sets quickly, it won't pour off the front like thin casting-resin will.,

Pendants made using nesting punches and metallic acrylic paints, domed with resin to make beautiful jewelry, buttons and more.

Rather than using a mold, put the resin on top of a base, such as little wooden stars. This works because most UV resins are thick enough that they won't pour over the side, but dome instead. This tutorial also shows an ombre effect by pre mixing three shades (using PearlEx mica powder), putting them on with a toothpick, and then blending them in between sections.

Using solid rings and UV resin to make a connected translucent pendant. Like bubbles (hence the title). This tutorial used star-shaped rings as well as round ones, but round rings my themselves would still be cool. Summery colours mixing the resin with transparent dye (or ink), just a drop or two. This can also be made with 2 part resin as well, it will just take a bit longer. The author used a UV lamp to cure her resin, but direct sunlight will work too.

A couple of useful tips about adding bails to resin charms. One I hadn't seen before was: use a piece of styrofoam as a drilling surface to protect the surface underneath.,

What is notable about this is the tips for finishing the washer-based pendants with Enviro Tex, which is a glossy two-part resin finish; somewhat fussy to work with, but a very durable and glossy finish.,
