Pattern by Louise Patterson. The Diagonal Braid is a textured stitch that produces a reversible fabric. This pattern is for a dishcloth, but it could be extended to make a scarf or blanket.

This looks like a sort of staggered rib stitch.

Pattern by Elsie Chokov. A mock-cable pattern made by doing 3x3 ribbing, and then cinching that by passing a slipped stitch over some of the stitches (like one was doing Bamboo Stitch).

Interesting technique: knitting socks with crochet hooks instead of double-pointed-needles. I think it requires four or five identical crochet hooks; one is the working hook, and the others are holding the stitches. Note that these are normal crochet hooks, not Tunisian. I'm not sure if it would work with Tunisian crochet hooks, because the stoppers at the end might get in the way.

Video demonstration of an easier way of doing cables with a knook (knitting hook). (Mind you, the standard way of doing a cable with a knitting hook is still MUCH easier than trying to cable on a knitting loom) The idea is to give yourself more manoeuvrability by doing the first half of the cable, then pull those stitches down onto your cord/lifeline, thus freeing up your hook to easily do the second half of the cable.

This comment in the thread suggests an interesting cast-on method for hook-knitting: do a chain twice as long as you need, then pull up a loop through every other chain. This allows for stretchiness unlike the usual crochet cast-on.

Useful diagram for what to measure when designing fingerless gloves. Some of these measurements aren't needed - they could be calculated from the others - but it is still useful to note.

Knitting with scales, the loom-knitting method. This method will probably work for crochet as well. The secret is: knit the item first, then add the scales by doing scale-maille while linking the scales to the knitting as well as each other.

I like this idea; start off loomknitting then split into three, braid them, and then knit them together again.
