Pattern by Louise Patterson. The Diagonal Braid is a textured stitch that produces a reversible fabric. This pattern is for a dishcloth, but it could be extended to make a scarf or blanket.

This looks like a sort of staggered rib stitch.

Pattern by Elsie Chokov. A mock-cable pattern made by doing 3x3 ribbing, and then cinching that by passing a slipped stitch over some of the stitches (like one was doing Bamboo Stitch).
