Beaded Shell Fringe Scarf Tutorial - Donna LiljegrenTutorial for making beaded shell scallops at the start of a knitted scarf. The original pattern is from Deanna's Vintage Styles (Shell Fringe Scarf). However, one doesn't need to follow that pattern in order to use the general technique. It's a lovely way of decorating the bottom of a knitted piece. This video also demonstrates how to transfer beads from a hank of beads over to one's yarn. This can be useful for any textile craft where one is adding beads to the piece (e.g. crochet, kumihimo)2017-09-17 17:37:00

How To Make Bangles With Plastic BottlesBangles cut out from the plastic of a round plastic bottle (like a drink bottle). After applying heat to the sides of it, they become strong enough and rough edges have gone. Not sure if they are still too cheap-and-tacky to want to make, however, they might provide a good base for a silk-wrapped bangle etc.2017-08-29 06:17:00

DEMO 6: 4 Thong Leather Round Braid with and without a CoreFour leather strands are round braided against a wood core, followed by the same four strands round braided without the core. Showing the around-the-core part first gives a good look at the structure of the braid, and makes doing it without a core clearer. (The leather strands that are braided around the core are ~8 mm wide each; in the round braiding without the core the leather thongs are thinned from ~8 to ~4 mm to give the round braid a tapered look.)2017-08-12 10:31:00

Hexagonal Iso-Path: board creation and game playMost of this video is about how to construct a game-board for playing Hexagonal Iso-Path. The final five minutes explain how to play.
This looks like it has great potential: pretty-but-simple pieces, simple rules, complex gameplay (very strategic). Someone in the comments suggested it should be called "Bee Chess" (because of all the hexagons).2017-08-07 22:45:00 -
Copper Flame Painting SunburstGetting a well defined sunburst multi-coloured pattern on oxidized copper. This is an interesting technique because first it puts a thick layer of oxidisation on the copper, then it uses a "reducing" flame in the torch to remove the oxidisation where the flame goes. (A reducing flame is one where the air-hole in the torch is completely closed, so the flame has less air (and thus oxygen) in it.)2017-08-07 00:20:00

DIY Episode 1:25 - Knot Soft Flex Beading Wire To Create A Beaded Bracelet With A Button ClaspThis tutorial shows how to loosely knot a seed bead bracelet with a button clasp, using tigertail and seed beads (this uses Soft Flex .019 Beading Wire). This is basically doing macrame alternating half-hitches with the tigertail (which is filled up with seed-beads) and because the tigertail is stiff-but-springy, you can make the knots very loose (hardly "knots" at all) and you get a lovely Celtic-looking set of loops around each other. You could probably do something similar with round leather cord (though without the beads, or with very large-hole beads).2017-07-26 13:20:00

Socks with heel and toe, completely made on the Addi ExpressThis tutorial shows how to make socks on a circular knitting machine; the whole sock is done on the machine, it isn't necessary to hand-knit the toe or heel. This is done by using short rows. The resulting sock looks very neat and tidy. This video has a translated over-dubbed soundtrack in English (the original was in German I think).2017-07-11 10:44:00

Exposed Silver Color Stringing Wire Necklace TutorialInteresting bead-stringing technique using TWO strands of "stringing wire" (AKA tigertail). This requires pretty-coloured tigertail because the tigertail is going to be visible rather than covered entirely with beads. This is done by alternating between stringing the beads on single wires (one or both) and stringing the beads on two wires together, with enough space between the beads that the tigertail is exposed. Because the beads alternate in this way, the beads strung on both wires together hold the other beads in position, as the stiff-but-flexible tigertail opens with the separate wires, and closes when the wires are strung together.2017-07-10 21:55:00
